2010 TYCA-West Conference – Call for Proposals

ENTERING THE CONVERSATION: CREATING ACTIONABLE KNOWLEDGE

October 8-9, 2010
Las Vegas, Nevada

The National Council of Teachers of English, Two-Year College Association-West invites participation from everyone who desires practical, hands-on ideas for teaching. The theme for the October conference centers on Entering the Conversation: “Creating Actionable Knowledge.”

Each year, the conference will focus on a particular theme. While proposals that address the theme are especially welcome, other proposals will be considered that address relevant topics and issues. Of particular interest are hands-on, active presentations that encourage audience participation and discussion.

Please submit:
A cover page that includes the title, speaker/s, email/s, and phone number/s of all involved, along with a brief 40-100 word description of your presentation and the format of the presentation (panel/workshop/lecture/paper reading). The time for all presentations, regardless of format, is 1 hour and 20 minutes. Only one copy of this information need be submitted.

Proposals should be postmarked by August 15, 2010. Send to:

On the left, “Past Conferences,” see descriptions and links (to many) of the past TYCA-West conference programs. Also, note that this year I have created a link to some of the presentation papers, handouts, and PowerPoints. I’m sure there are more papers/PowerPoints we could put up. Just think of the archive we could build over the years to illustrate the gret thinking going on at TYCA-West. So…if you haven’t emailed me your presentation yet, please do:

FYI the conference will begin in Student Center’s Oak Room at the SLCC Redwood campus. There will be a registration table just outside the Oak room. The Student Center is in about the middle of campus, just south from the main visitor parking lot.
